This church was damaged on 19 October in an airstrike that killed 16 civilians who were sheltering there, having been made homeless by earlier Israeli air strikes.

For the West, Israel is our military presence in the Middle East. With few exceptions, everyone there does two to three years of National Service and the country bristles with the latest hi-tech weaponry from the USA. It is like a huge aircraft carrier, guarding our oil-interests and keeping Russia and China at bay.

Perhaps some people confuse the place that is today called "Israel" with the ancient people of the Bible who wandered across and beyond the region. The Old Testament tells of the twelve tribes of Jacob who lived centuries before Christ. These Iron Age people had little in common with the militarised regime that exists now.

The mainstream Judaism of today is known as "Rabbinical" and has roots in the 3rd and 6th Centuries A.D. when the Talmud was first codified in writing. This happened probably a millennium or more after Moses and even a few centuries later than the New Testament stories of Jesus.

Zionism, the movement for a geographical home for Jews, not least those with centuries of European heritage, is even newer. Starting in the late 19th century, Zionism has been a colonial project of an Anglo-American elite, working with the Rothschild banking dynasty. On what planet could it be allowed for one British "Lord", Lord Balfour, to write to another "Lord", Lord Rothschild, and give away a whole country? This is the message of the infamous "Balfour Declaration" of 1917. Imagine if someone arrived at your door with a gun, kills some of your family and says, "this is our home now, those still standing can stay in the Garden shed", at least for now. On what planet would half decent people accept this?

Marketing empire

To name this colonisation project "Israel" was masterful. The biblical name lends an impression of something eternal and "ordained by God". "Israel" as a name compares favourably with colonial labels such as "German East Africa" or "French Indochina", where the uninvited imposition of one culture over another is implicit in the name. To protect the Zionist project further, anyone who asks awkward questions is villified as an "antisemite". Jeremy Corbyn, Roger Waters, Joe Rogan and many other good people, please take a bow.

After decades of viscious ethnic cleansing by the state of Israel, we now have full blown genocide. Shall we in the West continue to turn a blind eye?

Don’t look here, look there!

What about October 7th? To see the Hamas attacks as a fundamental cause of the problems is a mistake. It is like blaming South Africa’s apartheid on "Spear of the Nation", a group set up to oppose apartheid.

Nelson Mandela helped to found this group, which had avowedly violent intentions, in the 1960s. His involvement earned him a long jail sentence. "Spear of the Nation" killed white people who were just going about their daily lives in hundreds of attacks intended to terrorise. Was Mandela right or wrong to support a deadly means to end apartheid? It is now a moot debate. Due to global pressure, South Africa’s apartheid system was terminated and the "Spear of the Nation" movement - whether you think it was the lesser of evils or just simply evil - is now redundant. The overriding priority in all of this was to end the apartheid regime, not judge its opponents.

Israel’s system of apartheid must now suffer the same fate as South Africa’s. Palestinians have an equal right to a good life as do Israelis. This is the case whatever Hamas did on October the 7th and whatever the war propaganda says they did. There has undoubtedly been a concerted programme to exaggerate the crimes of Hamas, and downplay those of Israel. Widely reported stories of babies beheaded by Hamas, for example, proved to be false. If an adversary really is so evil, there should be no need to fabricate such stories. Western media is working overtime to "manufacture consent", as writer Noam Chomsky would term it. But consent for more war is not being given. People are appalled by the killing and the destruction of a society and begin to see through the tired narratives used to justify it.

Zionism on display

Shocking recent events have revealed Zionism to the world as a deadly and immoral project. This has been clear to many Jews in Israel and beyond, long before 7th October. More than ever now, they express their dissent in articles and protests that vehemently denounce the Israeli regime that governs a very divided population.

Zionism however, is firmly embedded in the power structures of the Western world. Our former global dominance was derived in part from our control of the Middle East. The vast British Empire depended its huge Royal Navy. An abundant Middle Eastern oil supply was essential as the Royal Navy converted their ships from coal. The time period for this transition was roughly from the start of the first world war to the start of the second, matching quite well with the rise of Zionism. When the British Empire faded, America was ready to take over.

And what of Ukraine? In the West we have been taught to interpret history like a movie. This one began in February 2020. As the opening titles roll, we are expected to take a drug provided by the BBC and their ilk, that makes us forget all context. In this case, we must forget eight or more prior years of deadly conflict, stirred up in Ukraine by the USA. The blockbuster then begins with "unprovoked aggression" where the West are the clever goodies and Russia are the stupid baddies. Victory is promised as always, for the goodies, and if it goes on too long we’ll walk out of the cinema and forget the whole thing. Likewise if we do not get the ending we think we have paid for.

In the real world we are left with many hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians dead, perhaps half a million, and a country wrecked. A resurgent Russia has been pushed into the arms of China and together with the "Global South" countries and the Middle East, they are creating the world’s largest trading and cooperation blocks. They are eager to abandon the US controlled petrodollar and have shown little interest in Europe. The post second world war period of American dominance is suddenly over.

Any ambitions we may have had of spreading Western liberal democracy, for now at least, must be kicked into the long grass. For the West, this has been a monumental and historic blunder. Biden’s minders must be as clueless as the president is himself.

Russia rises with the "Global South"

Russia will now restore the predominantly Russian speaking South-Eastern territories to the motherland and will gain much more than they offered to settle for earlier. Ukrainians have been sent to their deaths, with most of the West cheering on, for nothing. The majority of people to be absorbed by Russia are Russian speaking and will not object to the change. Significantly, Russia has decided not to trust the West anymore. After Russia’s peaceful capitulation in the cold war, deals were struck between Bush and Gorbachev. Then Russia became the victim of a deceitful and creeping aggression. Ukraine is something of a last straw, and America is no longer considered to be a fit-for-purpose negotiating partner. This means, tragically, a negotiated settlement in Ukraine is unlikely. The killing is set to continue, until either Ukraine collapses or there is a sea change in USA politics.

America stumbles

America’s military forces have evolved. They are now more sensitive to gender diversity but less able to project force. The USA’s depleted industrial base has failed to sustain Ukraine with sufficient ammunition. By contrast, Russia’s unrivalled hypersonic missiles could sink America’s increasingly "white-elephant" aircraft carriers with the press of a button. Russia will dictate terms to Ukraine. The West will stumble off like a drunken fool (as we did in 2021 in Afghanistan), muttering "But trashing other people’s countries worked well for us before, what changed?" We will have to try starting another war somewhere else, against a lesser foe. Broken or developing countries rich in resources are good places to look. (Gaza has nice offshore oil and gas fields, worth half a trillion dollars. Hmmm.)

Addicted to war

War is our addiction. To protect a way of life, an addict may make up unbelievable cock-and-bull stories to justify deceitful behaviours. Their families often fall for the stories, hook line and sinker. They wish to avoid the pain of discovering unpleasant truths as well as the pain of discovering they have been duped. What is the addict saying? "Israel must have the right to defend itself". "If we don’t send money to Ukraine, Putin will extend his rampage all over Europe". "Support Israel or you are an antisemite". "We must bomb more hospitals because they are hiding Hamas baby killers"… and on and on.

Perpetual war is sold to us as a fight for "justice and democacy", or as a "war on terror", but this is usually false. Those who challenge these narratives, risk the fate of whistleblower Julian Assange. This father of young children is spending his fifth Christmas, sick and ailing, in the Victorian dungeon that is Belmarsh prison. His only crime is to have once jumped bail after revealing war crimes committed by the USA. To our shame, most of us turn a blind eye to this abuse of human rights on our own London doorstep. Assange’s story is a stark illustration of our depravity, as we brutally punish the truth teller, leaving the war criminals at liberty.

Hysteria kills

And what of Covid? What a lot of arguments that stirred. How that revealed differences between people that hitherto lay concealed. Prime Minister Sunak recently delivered unwelcome comments to the official Covid Inquiry Whitewash. He said "lockdown is likely to have generated costs that are greater than the likely benefit". The Prime Minister quoted some very respectable mainstream research supporting his claim. But this was nothing the official whitewash was interested in, and the PM was quickly shut down by counsel Hugo Keith KC who said he didn’t want to get into that.

Claiming any "benefit" at all for lockdown, however, implies that an unusually deadly virus was in fact circulating. But was this true? A person dying of covid is, on average, living a longer life than a person dying from other causes such as old age. This simple statistic was available very early in the "pandemic", and did not change. This was perhaps the only covid statistic we ever needed, revealing the absurdity of the panic.

Most probably, there never was an unusually deadly virus in circulation. The deaths and other problems associated with "covid" flowed from our overreactions and hysterical interventions. Restricting healthcare, treating the frail with end-of-life Midazolam doses or leaving them to die of hunger and thirst out of sight of their next of kin, using fear to control people, denying access to early treatments (Ivermectin etc), denying the emotional support of families, excessive use of ventilators and closing down schools and the economy all had disasterous consequences. Could such unrelenting blunders really be accidental?

"Mysterious" deaths

Now there is a strange "Excess Deaths" crisis stalking the developed world. In the UK, thousands of extra people have been dying each month, largely with cardiovascular problems. This is adding up to something worse than the so called "pandemic" yet it scarcely generates a headline! Many deaths are of people in their 40s and 50s, far younger than those who died of covid. Although the phenomena is now widely acknowledged, there is no official explanation for the cause. Some suggest it is Global Warming (LOL) or after effects of the "pandemic".

A potential cause of excess deaths that is not considered is the mRNA shots injected into 6 billion people. But we know the problem cannot be the shots. This because we are bombarded from birth with messages repeating ad nauseum that these highly profitable products are "safe and effective" and are miracles of science. Anyone who questions these pharma products is a bad person, a dangerous "anti-vaxxer", actually a form of murderer. Like the label "antisemite", the term carries a toxic stigma that makes it ideal for controlling the boundaries of acceptable opinion. That these drugs called vaccines are "safe and effective" is, however, just one opinion.

Another opinion is reflected in major recent study from Canada. This research suggests that covid injections may have killed 17 million people globally. That will sound unbelievable to many, but should it be correct it would only be 0.3% of the people injected. 0.3% probably reflects a better level of safety compared to a number of other infamous pharma products tested in the courts.

I am not a doctor, but is it a surprise that programming your own cells with mRNA to produce uncontrolled amounts of "spike proteins", that are designed to cling to cells inside your blood vessels, could lead to abnormal clotting and problems for the cardiovascular system?

Silver linings

So how by any stretch is this a Christmas message?

Many will disagree with opinions expressed above. That’s fine with me 😊. I am confident, however, that for most people at least, arguments that once were outlandish are now less so. What were once absurd "conspiracy theories" now carry a different resonance. Living through covid has taught you to ask more questions of "official narratives". Either that, or Netflix and the BBC have together turned you brain into popcorn!

This is the silver lining. Covid has awakened people to a completely new awareness: "experts are not always expert", "the government works for somebody else, not you", "debt based money is a fraud", "digitised currencies (CDBCs) are a threat to our way of life", "science is a form of religion where psuedoscience masks uncertainty and frequently thrives alongside theocracy", "our democracy has withered, almost to death, and is further threatened by supranational technocrats", "mass media, and even scientific publishing is full of fake news and paid-for propaganda that successfully brainwashes most people", "many institutions we once trusted do not deserve that trust", "your freedom, and your children’s freedom have been given away", and "climate change is perhaps the biggest fraud of all".

Thanks to covid, a fringe of sceptics has become a robust and growing force.

Our era is characterised by an elite’s addiction to war, power and control. The shocking slaughter in Gaza makes it clearer to more people what is going on. As a critical mass is reached, the seeds are sown for the demise of this Evil Empire. So Gaza too has a silver - if extremely bitter, tragic and bloody - lining.

Covid and Gaza in their different ways are contributing to a "Great Awakening". Ukraine in time probably will do so too. The people who want war and WHO pandemic control grids should be worried.

In conclusion, ending war must be our priority. How can we achieve social justice when civilians are being mown down like unwanted grass by a military bully? How can we protect the environment if it is being bombed? How can we seek economic stability and prosperity while our Governments are addicted to war? How can you expect people to be peaceful and honest if the Government will tell any lie ("45 minutes") in order to start a war? How can we achieve our human potential and spiritual fulfilment if we are half asleep, carelessly and inadvertently aiding and abetting the slaughter of innocents?

We humans are tribal creatures. My Christmas wish is that in our various tribes, social, political, faith-based, entertainment based - whatever - that we strive for the opposites of war, that is awareness, peace, justice, freedom and informed choice. If you cannot influence the tribes you are in sufficiently, then leave them. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.

Ukraine was the trigger, Israel could prove to be a key escalation. Will Iran stand idly by if Israel slaughters Palestine in "self-defence"? What about Egypt? Russia? USA?

Western political leaders now stress "victimhood", Israel's and Ukraine's. As victims, it is argued, they have a right, to more violence in the name of "self defence". They ignore history and context whenever it helps their case. They also ignore how violence breeds violence.

Remember World War One? We now risk a World War Three. The stifled anger and violent rage of people murdered and mistreated for decades will not blow over like a cold snap.

The conflict, already started, may grumble on for decades as scores are settled. Money will be poured into weapons and opinion-forming. For many, life might carry on much as usual, providing this hot war does not get too hot. If you assume that your side will win, is that real or is it war time propaganda? Of course none of this matters if things slip out of control and go nuclear.

An alternative for us all is to find the courage to see our own faults while empathising with those we are subtly taught to "other" and hate. Imagine abandoning the deadly toys of war in favour of seeking fundamental justice.

The news from my immediate famliy is only good. The young ones go from strength to strength, achieving the things that make parents proud, frequently showing wisdom well beyond their years and then at times driving us nuts - which is probably exactly where we deserve to be driven! The details I look forward to sharing with you when we next meet.

J is well and the best possible partner I could ever have wished for in a fight that I never imagined I would need to fight. How strange! What fight? I refer of course to the "Great Swindle". I now hear some uneasy voices: "this is not very Christmassy, not a real Christmas circular". I am sorry; it is what it is.

We have all been victims of a Great Swindle, which is nothing to be brushed under the carpet, even if it is ugly and uncomfortable to think about. For me to avoid the topic would be using Christmas tinsel to decorate something rotten.

Here is my take on the Great Swindle, put as briefly as I can, followed by some reflections on what it all means.

<img alt="""" src="images/divider_green2.png">

The mortality rate of a relatively benign virus was amplified by misguided use of ventilators, Remdesivir and Midazolam. Infectious patients were removed from hospitals to care homes, where infections could do the most damage. “Died with covid” was counted as “Died due to covid”. PCR tests were misguidedly used in a way that exaggerated the numbers of "cases" creating a "pseudoepidemic" of false positives. Pseudoepidemics were a suprisingly well documented phenomena long before covid; look it up.

Governments misused computer models and lied with statistics to show nightmare scenarios. Vast Nightingale hospitals were built - and then people shrugged it off when none were needed. Like a horror movie audience, many relished the thrill of the drama or found a new self-importance by participating in it. Sweden of course was made into a pariah, for failing to wholeheartedly join the hysteria. They then went on to have just about the lowest excess deaths of any developed country, including the rest of Scandinavia.

Lockdowns were a misguided response to the fear generated by the artificially raised mortality rates. Very deliberate messaging from governments piled on the pressure. Lack of access to medical care caused more deaths, many of which were then falsely attributed to covid. A vicious circle of exaggerated fears stirred demand for more harmful interventions and even more testing, which in turn found more PCR "infections" which generated yet more and more fear.

Lockdowns trashed the public purse, wrecked businesses, restricted access to healthcare and deprived people of essential human contact. Old people were forced to live their last years and die alone. Adults were denied the means to earn a living. Young people were denied proper education. Babies were denied smiles as sinister looking masks subliminally advertised "Danger, Danger Everywhere!" for young and old alike.

Across the world countless people, as a direct consequence of lockdowns, have been pushed into poverty, long term. The UN estimates the numbers must be counted in millions. It is well known how poverty breeds ill-health and suffering with impacts enduring across generations. All for an intervention that the Chinese have now amply demonstrated, is as ineffective as it is cruel.

Desperate to be free of lockdowns and able to travel, people eagerly accepted whatever solution governments could offer. Bill Gates advised us "Normalcy only returns when we have largely vaccinated the entire global population".

Effective early treatments and prophylactics (IVM, HCQ, Vitamin D, exercise) were downplayed or banned completely. Effective alternatives to vaccines were a legal obstacle to "Emergency Use Authorisation" which would delay vaccines for years. This could not be risked. Medical opinion that differed on this question was stifled.

So after many years of failing to develop a safe and effective coronavirus vaccine, within weeks of each other, four separate companies solved it. A brand new, poorly tested genetic based technology was rushed to market and more or less forced on the public. The treatment does not prevent infection. Its absolute efficacy in reducing symptoms starts at less than 1% before becoming negative within months. "Negative efficacy" is a euphemism meaning "it puts you at greater risk". It was mislabelled as a "vaccine". It is in fact an experimental gene-based therapy with no long-term safety data, and only fudged short-term data. In Pfizer's own trials, as the injected started to do worse than the control group, they injected the control group too, destroying the principles of a Randomised Controlled Trial.

A mass psychological campaign was launched by governments, the science establishment, Pharma, Media, Celebrities, and Education. Their aim was to convince as many as possible to inject this new, and as it turns out, toxic, product into their arms. The short-term consequences of this now look very concerning. The long-term consequences remain completely unknown. Perhaps subjecting billions of people to this was the biggest gamble ever in history.

Those who were unwilling to receive the jab were mocked, censored, prevented from travelling (and still are) and threatened with loss of career. Some were simply fired from their jobs - including hard-pressed healthcare workers. Some of my former colleagues in the USA also fell into this "no jab, no job" category.

Now as 2022 draws to a close, across the public health dashboard, multiple signals are blinking red and demanding attention: Adverse event data (VAERs), US military medical databases (DMED), excess mortality, myocarditis, strokes, clots, life insurance data, autopsies, etc, etc. Awful signals are ignored by media, authorities and so-called experts. Most people just shrug their shoulders: if anything was seriously wrong it would be on the BBC. At least this is what you will believe until your personal experience crashes into the propaganda.

Meanwhile, the evolutionary pressure of mass injections when infections are peaking, something deliberately avoided in the past with flu vaccinations, appears to have generated thousands of escape variants. The result is a record year for sickness and excess deaths. Pharma has gained a never-ending opportunity to sell more products - endless "boosters" - to people who are not even ill. But what are these "boosters" boosting? What used to be termed "health" is now called "asymptomatic illness".

Authorities such as Ofcom in the UK have prevented traditional broadcasters from airing sceptical viewpoints with an iron fist. In the USA, the White House has intervened directly with Big Tech to have precise control of the ideas permitted on social media. Draconian levels of censorship have been the result. Post a dissenting view on Facebook, and you can be deplatformed within hours. Twitter is the same; it just takes a little longer. I speak from experience. Dissenting medical professionals must stay silent or risk career damage or being struck off by professional associations.

Speakers at protests organised to oppose the madness were handcuffed, bundled into police vans and detained overnight before being released without charge. This is something I saw in London and will not forget. To most people, it does not seem to matter. So long as the cheap food and entertainments continue, like the bread and circuses of ancient Rome, nothing much matters.

Looking back it is remarkable how the first wave of the epidemic peaked within hours across the English-speaking world. So a virus that is supposed to have leaked from a lab in Wuhan, came to us via Lombardy reaching the North of Scotland simultaneously as it reached the south of Cornwall. Simultaneously it also reached the distant West coasts of Canada and the USA too. So 1,200 miles of Atlantic Ocean and a similar stretch of the North American continent, including vast mountain ranges, could not slow the spread of these viral particles at all. Yet, governments thought that taping up the greeting card section of supermarkets, as happened in Wales, would do it! The simultaneous outbreak of covid across the Northern Hemisphere suggests to me that this thing was largely spread by TV and the edicts of the World Health Organisation rather than by sneezes and coughs. In other words, it was mostly a set of messages and deadly behaviours that went viral, not a pathogen. Evidence that the covid virus was widespread in various places long before the Lombardy outbreak, lends further credence to this idea.

We humans seem to have really messed this up - causing immense and avoidable death and suffering. How could this happen?

<img alt="""" src="images/divider_green2.png">

The famous Milgram experiment of the 1960s comes to mind. Test subjects were told to torture a fellow human being, by gradually turning up the voltage to the point of death. When participants heard the agonised screams (it was actually an actor) they would all object. For around 80%, if the man in the white coat merely repeated the words "the experiment must continue", the test subjects, ordinary decent people, would continue the torture until the apparent death of their victim. Only 20% would refuse to do this.

Milgram's experiments were an attempt to understand how ordinary decent Germans fell under the Nazi spell and became party to atrocities. After the Nuremberg trials, an observation was made that the human race was no less guilty than the Nazis themselves. The Nazis had undoubtedly issued appalling instructions, but perhaps equally shocking was the abundance of ordinary people who would willingly or even eagerly carry out those instructions.

The human tendency to bow to authority, no matter how evil or misguided, is remarkable. So much of our popular culture concerns the brave rebels overcoming authoritarian evils. The Star Wars franchise is a perfect example. In real life, unlike the fiction we enjoy, people mostly back the authoritarians and marginalise rebels as morally and mentally deficient or worse. A simple explanation for this is that, for our pre-historic ancestors, belonging to the tribe was more important for survival than being right about a given question. We are programmed to fit in with the strongman chieftain, rather than challenge his instructions. Psychologists call this "motivated reasoning".

So, in the time of covid, where do the instructions come from? Who are the "authorities"? Where is the man in the white coat insisting that "the experiment must continue"?

In my view, our political leaders are mostly ordinary, well-meaning people, who like, the Milgram participants, merely "do as they are told". Perhaps their instructions come in a fog of greys rather than with Milgram's black and white clarity, but the principle is the same. Where do these instructions come from?

The World Economic Forum comes to mind as a source of malignancy. Their unpleasant tone, eugenicist tendencies, and boasts of pervasive political influence at the highest levels make them obvious suspects. Their role seems important and pernicious, but I can't help feeling that they too are mere humans. They have instructions that they too believe must be followed for the good, not necessarily the good of all, but for the good as they see it. I suspect their "instructions" also come in a fog of greys and they feel virtuous as they execute them. But where do their instructions come from?

We might be able to say who is controlling the WEF crowd, ask me over a glass of something and I will tell you my theories, but we are still left with the same question: what is the ultimate source of the authority that drives humans in evil directions? What is the source? Where is the root? If we knew that, we might be able to tackle it.

<img alt="""" src="images/divider_green2.png">

How interesting it is, that as the covid cult reared its ugly head and the 80% bowed down and honoured its every demand, the 20% dissenters all over the world started to find each other. Varied in our politics, culturally and socially diverse, but at complete ease with our differences. We are united in staunch opposition to the new authoritarianism. Free speech is a given. Laughs and smiles come easily.

How noticeable it was to me, a hitherto doggedly secular type, how many of the 20% were people of faith. Perhaps because they already had one well established faith, they were less willing to adopt a new phoney covid one? People of faith also seemed a little less surprised than the rest of us. They expected human action to have dire consequences. Sin is recognised. It is foretold. It is also noticeable that people of faith arrive on this battlefield seeming a little less bewildered than some others.

While big pharma profits are undoubtedly a big part of the problem, they are not the root cause. The same would apply to the political failure and corruption that is endemic. There is a bigger context, a weird and mysterious context. There appear to be dark forces out there that cannot be merely human. Something is out there that is beyond human. This is the strangest conclusion for this secularist to arrive at.

How noticeable it has been, how great friendships are forged in fire - what a pleasure and honour it has been to get to know so many new people and discover new dimensions to old friends and family. To each of you, it has been a real pleasure, you know who you are. If on the other hand you feel on the outside of this struggle, looking on in bemusement, I invite you to join us: the Self Organising Coalition. We are all programmed to follow authority and be driven by fear, but you can own your programming rather than be owned by it.

<img alt="""" src="images/divider_green2.png">

To wrap this up: covid has shown us how "experts" are frequently anything but. The great cathedrals of knowledge that our society worships and lives by are all too often built on foundations of shifting and crumbling sand.

We have learned how easily people can be manipulated and find it natural to respect false authorities. It works best if they have been dosed with fear and the pornographic excitement of a "deadly virus".

Forces exist, evil malign forces, that defy secular explanations. The war we are in, for it is a war, against a globalist authoritarianism is a spiritual war as much as it is a war over earthly differences.

How outgunned we rebels are! How clear is the evil and how strong it is. How clear too, is the call for each of us to connect with the opposition to that evil.

Does this qualify as a Christmas message? Jesus was born. Whatever is true or false about the matter, He offered an opening and an alternative as well as a recognition of a surreptitious and ubiquitous force that does not wish us well.

The evil is real, but it is not the only story in town! We really do have something to celebrate. I wish you all, 80% or 20%, a very Happy Christmas!
Belief and Vaccines: Why is an almost religious reverence for vaccines so widespread?2022-03-25T00:00:00+00:002022-03-25T00:00:00+00:00InProportion2tag:inproportion2.talkigy.com,2022-03-25:/vaccine_belief.html

Prof Christian Perronne former president of the French Technical Committee for Vaccination and Vice President of the WHO expert group on Vaccinations (Europe).

Summary of the professor's testimony to Luxembourg Parliamentary Hearing on January 12, 2022:

We have flouted science and flouted rights

Experts advising politicians have major conflicts of interest. Decisions are taken on the sly with zero scientific references

Publications in the world's greatest journals were fraudulent

HCQ was discredited in the Lancet by a paid-for fraudulent study ("Lancetgate") - blocking HCQ in the whole world

Pfizer data used to gain emergency authorisation was partly fraudulent (BMJ/ Pfizergate)

The biggest scandal of this epidemic is that we have been made to believe that these products are vaccines. They are not at all vaccines

They don't prevent infection and they don't prevent severe outcomes.

In the countries that are most vaccinated, more than 90% in intensive care are double or triple vaccinated

We need to stop this delirium of wanting to vaccinate for an illness that almost doesn't kill anymore

A lot of figures have been inflated because of over-amplified PCR tests. We have inflated deaths and hospitalisations. We said they died of covid when they really died of something else

A normal vaccine takes 10 years to be authorised. It is a scandal to authorise this one for pregnant women in a few months

There has been a shocking absence of scientific studies on these decisions

When Govt says it takes 3 doses - soon 4,5,6 doses - there is zero scientific data to support these decisions

It is shocking that the European Medicines Agency admitted that they did not know the composition of these vaccines and despite that they authorised it

According to official data the "vaccines" have caused 36,000 deaths in Europe and 25,000 in the USA, including hundreds of athletes.

US oncologists say there is an increase in cancer following the vaccination

In the countries that didn't vaccinate, or stopped vaccinating, the epidemic is over - for example India

The vaccine is illegal. The emergency authorisation was done on the basis of it being demonstrated that there are no other effective treatments. But there are hundreds of published studies showing effective treatments, e.g. India

We are still in Phase 3 experimentation. By international treaties and the Nuremberg code it is forbidden to mandate experimental treatments

More children are dying from the vaccine than are dying from the virus. We know this because there are practically zero deaths in children from covid

I personally know a girl of 17 and another of 20 - one who died of myocardial infarction 8 days after vaccination, and the other of pulmonary embolism, a cause of death formerly unheard of in this age group

I ask for a moratorium on these products that are not vaccines, were not evaluated in the correct way, and for which we will not have definitive evaluations for many years

Sliding down a slippery slope

I have been present on two occasions at London's Speakers' Corner, during the Covid panic, to watch the police step in and stop perfectly calm non-violent speakers from expressing their views. Both times the silencing was done forcefully with handcuffs. In the one case I was able to follow up on, Dr Heiko Schöning was released without charge but only after eight hours in a police cell. The sublime irony, of course, is that Speakers' Corner is supposedly an ancient home of free speech.

Historians of the future might look back on this era as one more episode where, consumed by fear, our society panicked and did stupid things. This is how we look back at past episodes of hysteria, such as sixteenth-century witch hunts or the "red scare" in 1950's America. In the latter example, an epidemic of fear and paranoia spread and individuals suspected of transmitting the "communist" virus were persecuted. Once the madness had passed, the deluded immediately became the amnesiacs and disowned the whole affair. It was always other people that had pushed for the bad things.

The future history of covid will have all these features, but there is much more to our current emergency.

Nothing makes any sense any more

Many of us have been bewildered by covid; despite the fashionable cries of "follow the science", normal reason and logic seem to have been suspended.

For example:

Why spend billions on covid testing even after the FDA has said test kits in wide use should be destroyed, literally "place them in the trash"?[5] About £100 billion was allocated to the UK "Moonshot" testing programme and resulted in very modest achievements, if any at all, which compares to the NHS's continually stretched budget of less than £200 billion.

Why press ahead with vaccinations - that do not stop transmission - for teenagers who are not at risk of the virus but who may be damaged by the vaccine?

Why restrict access to healthcare so that waiting lists for treatment - including many cancer sufferers - break all records? Recently it was noted that there are 5.6 million people waiting for initial treatment [6].

How can such policies possibly serve the goal of better public health?

The crumbling narrative

In so many places, if you test the official covid narrative, it seems to crumble under a weight of contradictions, falsehoods and misrepresentations. The world is not usually this irrational. Past paranoias have not stretched so far and so deep.

Of course "big pharma" is in it for the money, they always were, but such corruption hardly begins to explain how we could fall so far into such a deep, dark hole. This doesn't explain how, in a matter of months, we turned the whole world upside-down, making it normal to destroy livelihoods and liberties, normal to focus all attention on one illness at the expense of others that kill many more, and now normal to coerce people into getting an unproven medical intervention or risk losing freedoms to work, study or to travel. Forcing medical interventions on people against their will is something many thought the post-war Nuremberg trials might banish forever, at least from so-called democracies.

A new "lens"

When you look through the lens of "how does this improve public health?", our collective response to covid makes no sense at all. Another lens is needed. One lens that brings at least part of this into meaningful focus is characterised by a question: "how would the financial elite respond to fear of monetary collapse?"

The fault is not in our stars, but in our money

To understand this "lens", we need to think a bit about money. What follows is a simplification for the sake of brevity.

"Where does money come from?" is a simple but very important question. For several decades now, the world's major currencies have not been tied to any real asset. The post-war "gold standard" - where the world's currencies could be exchanged for dollars which in turn could be exchanged for gold - was cancelled by President Nixon one weekend in August 1971. As a consequence, nations became free to create unlimited amounts of money.

It is, perhaps surprisingly, routine for banks to create money by lending money they don't have, providing they have a small percentage of capital in reserve. This means, if too many depositors seek to withdraw funds at the same time, the bank will collapse in bankruptcy - through a "run on the bank".

Lending money into existence

When banks create money out of thin air, by lending it into existence, this money will appear perfectly real to all who buy and sell with it and invest with it and charge interest on it. Of course those who profit from the transactions will put their money in other banks, enabling those banks in turn to lend yet further multiples of the amount deposited. Round we go in circles of exponentially growing money supply - and corresponding debt, as this money is loaned, not gifted.

<img alt=""."" src="images/fractional_banking.png">

In the above example[9] $1000 is deposited in the bank, which facilitates a loan of 90% of capital held which is $900. This then gets deposited somewhere, enabling a further loan of $810, which once deposited enables a loan of a further $729.

In just three steps, $1000 has magically generated a further $2439 (900 + 810 + 729) out of thin air. The initial $1000 has more than tripled to $3439. This is of course is a simplified microcosm of a much bigger process, that stretches out across decades but illustrates how money is loaned into existence.

"Fiat" money provides freedom...

Welcome to the rather surprising world of "fiat" money, so called because the money has value only because of the government's decree, or fiat. A fiat currency, such as the dollar or the pound, by definition, has no intrinsic value, unlike for example a real gold coin which could be melted down and used for something.

A convenient thing about our current monetary system is that when governments have a problem, the Central Bank can lower interest rates, which will speed up the process of money generation so there is more to go around. Thus, in a recession, if money supply is accelerated, there will be more customers with money in their pockets, businesses find it easier to borrow money to make goods, and the economy will pick up again.

Of course there may be a tendency for the economy to "overheat" - more money chasing the same goods means inflation. Inflation devalues currency and fluctuations make it hard for businesses to plan ahead and maintain appropriate profit margins. To control things, the government can raise interest rates and slow the process down again.

Economists have argued whether this is a good thing ("Keynesians") or a bad thing ("Monetarists"), but their argument has not stopped the process from continuing relentlessly.

Arguably, while policy makers have been distracted by various arguments around the topic, they have ignored the problem at the heart: the money in circulation is always increasing, usually exponentially. One good reason for them to ignore it is that they had absolutely no solution to it other than "wait and see" and "hope for the best". John Maynard Keynes, the father of Keynesian economics, did have a solution of sorts. He famously said "In the long run we are all dead". He and his contemporaries are now long departed; so he was right about that at least. When in 1999, Time Magazine named Keynes as one of the "Most Important People of the Century" they said:

"His radical idea that governments should spend money they don't have may have saved capitalism" [13].

In hindsight, we can see a certain naivety in this statement. Keynes did not save capitalism; he merely postponed the day of reckoning.

Fiat money has a big problem

After a few decades of fiat money, we now find ourselves surrounded by absurdly vast quantities sloshing around. At the time of writing, US Money Supply is up to about $21 trillion, which is around 125% of Gross Domestic Product and growing fast; in 2000 the same ratio was "only" 56%. The problem is not limited to the USA; the UK's ratio has suddenly shot up from around 75% to 100%, while in Japan, which boasts the third-biggest economy in the world, the ratio is roughly double that of the USA.

These huge sums of money flow back and forth between the players in finance, insurance and real estate (there is around $600 trillion outstanding in currency and credit derivatives trading alone). Fortunes are made and debts are built up that hardly relate to anything in the real world. Some of the players become so big they become "too big to fail", as their failure would risk bringing down other institutions with them in a devastating domino-style collapse.

No one should underestimate how nasty it might be if your cash card stopped working and your local supermarket could not pay their suppliers, and the police stopped going to work because no one could pay them, and then the electricity goes off in the hospital, etc. In the credit crunch of 2008, then-Chancellor Alistair Darling said that Britain came within hours of "the breakdown of law and order" - averted by a massive bail out of the Royal Bank of Scotland, at the time the world's biggest bank. [12]

Putting out fires with gasoline

To prevent economic meltdowns from happening, governments have got into the habit of pouring "printed-out-of-thin-air" money into trouble spots, billions and trillions of dollars, to keep banks solvent and money flowing. These actions are known as "bail-outs" or more euphemistically as "quantitative easing" and in the UK have become pretty much a permanent feature of our economy. It is very like smothering flames with gasoline. It might work in the short term (don't try it at home) but in the longer term, by adding fuel to the fire, you are just making things worse.

As money supply rockets up an exponential curve, it would be unsurprising if things started to get out of control. Money lent into existence also creates vast debts that must be serviced and can never be repaid, which makes people nervous - and rightly so. The whole thing starts to resemble a very fragile house of cards. In this environment, governments will set interest rates lower and lower to keep the money flowing. Raising interest rates gradually ceases to be an option due to the crippling effect it might have to the many who have large debts.

The crunch!

When interest rates reach zero and can go no further and when the next major insolvency comes along, there comes a point where government interventions can only lead to hyperinflation - which benefits nobody. The rather clumsy tool of interest rate control is stuck on zero.

For policy makers, whatever their political stripe or economic persuasion, there is nowhere left to go. It is an awful crunch moment - if you act you are doomed; if don't act you are also doomed. The system we are all part of, have grown up with and all benefited from has proved to be unsustainable.

Very roughly speaking, this is the awful point we may have reached in 2019. Now imagine you were a rich and powerful elite capitalist, anxious not to lose your elevated place in society as the value of your money is about to be rinsed away in a storm of hyperinflation.

Autumn 2019: the telephone rings

"Hi Billy this is Claas."

"Hi Claas."

"I'm afraid ze time has come."

"Oh really? That sucks. Really? Can't you tell the Fed to drop just a few
more trillions?"

"It's the zombie banks."

"What's the problem?"

"It's spreading everywhere. People are noticing; they are nervous. The Banks may get the runs."

"Oh that's too bad. Is there really nothing left to print?"

"No, interest rates are zero, there is no "lower". We can't wait any longer."

Billy was quiet for a moment, then began softly:

"You know I have a lot of dollars, I mean a lot. I really don't want this to happen."

"Ja, I know. But Billy, you know it has to. The hyperinflation is coming. The great depression and the credit crunch will be walks in the park compared to this."

"Damn. That's bad. Can't you stop this? Think of all the poor people who'll lose their jets!"

"Don't worry so much. We will have a Great Reset".

Claas starts to explain the Great Reset:

"First, freeze the economy like the meat in the freezer."

"Okaay?"

"We'll clean it up. All the little companies gone. Much easier to have a call with Jeff when you want something."

"OK, so we freeze the economy, then what?"

"Then we replace the old money. We'll call it the liberty passport or something. Everyone must have it. They will even want it, ha ha ha ha."

"So it's no longer us with the most money who win every time? I liked that system."

"No not any more, old money no good. Now it's points for good behaviour. So much better than the old way. No more everything for the rich one per cent. Not any more. The computer money is fairer - rewards for good people, compliant helpful people, not rich mouthy people. A much better world. We will make our mothers proud."

"I am, by most people's standards, a rich man, remember Claas."

"Yes, and mouthy, ha ha ha, but you will own nothing, and you will be happy [11], ha ha ha ha. Billy, don't take it so serious. We will control everything! And with the computer money, we take it back as easily as we give it, Billy - you take as much as you like."

Billy sighs with relief.

"Claas, I'm so glad you're in charge."

"Yes, it's perfect! This time, money will not get out of control. So much better for everybody! We make history. And we shut down the internet trolls. Rude and we switch their money off. No need to even call Jack!"

"Good. I hate trolls."

They discuss the roll-out of the plan:

"Claas how are we going to get this done? Xi is so organised. But the free world? Joe is losing it. The Brits are useless, remember Brexit? East Europe's a mess, and South America, oh my! How do we control these hordes?"

"Don't worry Billy, and here's the idea: next year, in 2020, we have a scary virus, really scary. We can use a new one or the flu, it doesn't matter. No one can stop a virus - at least not the idea of one. It will be the same for everyone, all countries. We will be fair. It will all fall into place. You'll see."

"What about some terrorism?"

"No. Virus is the best option. Terrorist story is too old and is over too quick. Climate crisis on other hand, is very good but we keep that for afterwards, ha ha ha."

"Claas, how long will this last? It's going to be bad for civil liberties."

"Billy, you are funny! We keep everyone in the suspended animation until we are ready - people safe in their houses with a mask on every one. Then when we are ready, all is done and reset, we let them out again, no problem, no harm done. Maybe we keep the masks, I think the little people look better in them."

"OK, a virus. I thought so, Good job Claas. That's why I bought the WHO and the CDC. I'll read up on viruses, really nasty ones, I'll spread the word far and wide. It's going to be scar-eey, wuuuh!"

"Billy you are an egg. Thank you. That will be so helpful."

Claas pauses and lowers his voice:

"This is going to be a bloody mess, you know that?"

"Yes I know. But then we'll Build Back Better?"

"That's right Billy, Build Back Better You've really got this now. OK well that's all for now."

"Well thanks again for all you do Claas, and say hello to Mrs Gotha would you?"

The "Monetary Plandemic" Hypothesis

Claas and Billy are imaginary characters and the individuals are not important. If the real people that hold sway in digital-financial elites were not there, others would replace them. Just as a gangster "family" will likely endure, even if its head should not.

In dollar terms, it is the super-rich that have the most to lose and who would have the means and motivation to try and "reset" the monetary system in a way that maintains their advantageous position in society.

Support for the hypothesis:

What support is there for the "Monetary Plandemic" hypothesis? If governments' overriding concerns were the monetary system rather than public health, it would explain why...

the risks and consequences of covid illness have been greatly exaggerated

evidence that interventions are ineffective is ignored, censored and suppressed

conventional cost-benefit analyses of interventions are not done

the apparent damage done to the global economy is ignored, with huge negative public health consequences

previously fiscally prudent and business-oriented governments appear content to destroy businesses with lockdowns, while throwing away eye-watering sums on furlough payments and testing

people are put under great pressure to accept vaccine passports, despite the vaccines doing very little, if anything, to stop transmission. As children use money, they too must be pushed into a digital ID system via a vaccine passport programme, even if vaccination makes no medical sense for them

political leaders across the western world are attached to slogans such as the "Great Reset" and "Build Back Better", which appear to be independent of the party-political programmes that in the past have driven national democratic agendas

the covid "crisis" never ends, even when the virus has dwindled to relative insignificance. The crisis needs to continue until a monetary "reset" has taken place regardless of public health considerations. Each covid policy goal such as "three weeks to flatten the curve" is replaced by an endless narrative of "scary variants", "a circuit breaker to save Christmas", avoiding "another lockdown". Further covid restrictions have started to seem as inevitable as death and taxes

Are there signs of monetary collapse?

The theory that a fiat currency must have a finite life span seems irrefutable, but will that end come tomorrow, in one year or in one hundred years? Predicting the future is a fool's game, but there are signals there are cause for concern now.

The 2019 Repo market crash was perhaps as important as it was under-reported. Here is how it was described at the time by Forbes magazine:

"Last week the financial system ran out of cash. It was a modern version of a bank run, and it’s not over yet...Somebody—probably a big bank—needs cash so badly that it has been willing to pay a shockingly high cost to obtain it. That’s the layman’s explanation of what’s happening. Interest rates have betrayed common sense" [1]

The 2019 problem was "solved" with more bailouts of hundreds of billions of dollars being pumped into the markets on a weekly basis.

A main signal that a monetary collapse was happening would be very high inflation, leading to a breakdown of financial and economic systems. As I write this, it is easy enough to scan the news and find troubling headlines:

Daily Telegraph: "A looming 'cost of living crisis' could erupt into the biggest political issue of the decade, senior Tories have warned" [2]

The Executive Intelligence Review: "In continental Europe and the United Kingdom, a hyperinflationary rise in energy prices over the course of 2021, and resulting bankruptcies and shutdowns of critical industrial production, has now unleashed a chain reaction of breakdowns of the physical economy of strategic proportions" [3]

The Independent: ‘Biggest crash in world history’: Personal finance expert Robert Kiyosaki predicts economic crisis in October [10] (Kiyosaki is author of the "Rich Dad" series of financial education books)

Central Banks are developing digital currencies

Countries from Uruguay to the UK are either investigating or developing digital currencies, often referred to as Central Bank Digital Currencies or CBDC's [7].

In October 2020, the head of the Bank for International Settlements, often thought of as the central bank for central banks, declared that he wanted “complete control” over money via banning cash in favour of Central Bank Digital Currencies, calling it a “very important” goal. Watch the video linked below.[14]

What should we do?

Here are some quick thoughts on what could be done to offset the harms that might be caused by a monetary collapse and the elite capitalists' response to it:

Most important, resist moves towards digital IDs and digital currencies that are controlled by authoritarian groups - such as the current UK government - or the algos of "Big Tech".

Once our money is digitalised, liberties we have both fought for and taken for granted will fade and become very difficult to recover. Beware of the Central Bank Digital Currencies, or CDBC's[4]. Beware of an initial incarnation of the digital ID that comes disguised as a "Vaccine Passport" or some other ID such as a "Citizen's Digital Wallet" created in response to energy or food shortages. Such digital systems may appear useful in the short term, but they risk being deadly to liberty and a catalyst to the complete surrender of power to authoritarian technocrats at the expense of democracy.

My view is that people should fight any government-controlled digital IDs - that will be a precursor to digital currencies - tooth and nail.

If (should it be "when"?) hyperinflation strikes, paper assets will lose value dramatically. This includes any savings in your bank account or pension. Consider alternative stores of wealth such as precious metals, or open source digital currencies such as Bitcoin, that cannot be controlled by a central authority. Buy a farm! (Perhaps Bill Gates has had similar thoughts, he is now the biggest owner of Farmland in the USA.)[8]

Develop your connections within your local community. Should there be significant instability in the global monetary system, good local connections will enable you to manage this better than if you are merely a consumer of products provided by large remote retailers.

Educate yourself about these issues (see links below).

The hypothesis in a nutshell

A collapse in our monetary system is the driving force behind a "covid plandemic" of irrational health policies. The covert goal is to replace existing fiat currencies with digital currencies linked to digital IDs. The power elite driving this agenda wish to maintain their wealth and power despite the collapse of the monetary systems upon which their empires are built. To achieve this, they will need to subvert democratic structures in favour of their own authoritarian controls facilitated by digitalisation. In this dystopia, democracy is sidelined and ordinary people must conform "correctly" or suffer immediate digital consequences.

Imagine being charged a higher tax rate because your social media posts were determined to have failed "fact-checking". Imagine having your wages docked because your contraceptive injection has expired. Imagine discovering you are unable to travel due to your "unrepresentative" opinions. Imagine your campaigning organisation or place of worship is closed for promoting "unhelpful" values.

Imagine that these decisions and policies are executed in algorithms managed by profit-focused corporations that are controlled by the mega-wealthy, for whom democratic oversight is little more than a distraction.

The possibilities of authoritarian regimes being in control of digitalised currencies and identities are endless and terrifying. It is the stuff of nightmares, the death knell of democracy and to be resisted by all possible means.

The topics covered above are vast in scope, and probably deserve years of study; events however will not wait so long.

I urge you to watch this speech by Ernst Wolff, a journalist and author specialising in financial matters. He provides credible context together with grounds for hope and optimism.
An Italian professor from Wales

Another great perspective on these issues is provided by Fabio Vighi, Professor of Critical Theory and Italian at Cardiff University. He traces in illuminating detail some of the financial steps that have led us to where we are:

If we ‘follow the money’, we will see that the economic blockade deviously attributed to Virus has achieved far from negligible results, not only in terms of social engineering, but also of financial predation

Like Wolff, Vighi also concludes that the "global coup" is doomed to fail.
Between weeks 23 and 37 in 2021 there were 252 deaths among 15-19-year-olds in England and Wales. This compares to 162 in the same period in 2020 - an increase of 90, or 56%.

How many young people need to die before people think this phenomenon is worthy of investigation? We don't know for certain the cause of the increased mortality, but it is suspicious that it kicks off around week 23 - the same time the vaccine programme accelerated for this age group.

mRNA: Mechanisms for disaster?

Is it surprising that mRNA "vaccines" can cause problems? These new therapies train the body's own cells to generate unknown quantities of spike proteins, which are expected to stick to tissue inside blood vessels. Is it impossible that some of the time this goes wrong, with inflammation or clotting occurring in any part of the body with blood circulation, from the brain to the heart to the ovaries?

Pregnant women are advised to avoid soft cheeses in order to protect the unborn child, yet they are encouraged to potentially flood their bodies, including the uterus, with adhesive artificial spike proteins. This is done in the absence of any long-term safety data for the mother, and no safety data at all for the foetus.

It is possible that very large numbers of people may be harmed or even killed by the covid-19 vaccinations.

In the 2003 documentary the Fog of War [1], former US Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara distils the lessons from the disastrous Vietnam War into eleven basic tenets. His rule number one: Empathise with your enemy.

Without sufficient empathy, you will not understand the actions of an adversary nor appreciate the options that are available to them, or perhaps more importantly, unavailable to them.

Whatever your views on covid, you probably know some well-intentioned and thoughtful people who have opposite views to yours. The crisis has been polarising to an extreme.

The following is an analogy that attempts to illuminate why people who agree on many things have come to vigorously disagree over covid.

The cruise ship scenario

Imagine a cruise ship with a number of small boats that can be used for pleasure trips.

At first, happy days

Initially there are plenty of small boats; if you want a small boat, feel free to take one. In connection with the boats, all passengers are libertarians.

Then, not so happy

Then demand for small boats starts to exceed supply. Now rules have to be followed and rotas set up so everyone gets a turn. As challenges appear, passengers remain mostly free, but some rules are appropriate.

Now there is an emergency!

A storm develops. The captain, on receipt of a report from the ship's engineer, breaks the news that the ship is damaged and is sinking. All must urgently get ready to crowd into the small boats, at least temporarily, in order to survive. Now, unlike happier days, the rules for using the boats are strict and harshly enforced. In an emergency authoritarianism rules!

The 85% respond

The storm is worsening and the 85% are frightened. They promptly do exactly as instructed. They find it natural to follow the instructions of the captain who, after all, is the expert. They are careful to create a positive 'we are all in this together attitude' so that all feel encouraged, and are encouraged to comply promptly and exactly.

The 15% respond

The remaining 15% are sceptical; they have looked at the engineer's report and have a different interpretation. They think the problems with the ship have been exaggerated and the captain and his supporters are seriously mistaken.

The 15% think the plan to launch the small boats into a storm is unnecessary and dangerous. They say 'You get into the small boats if you want to; we prefer to stay on the ship and fix the damage'.

The captain does not tolerate this, saying that the extra weight on the ship may hasten its sinking, causing a worse disaster. He orders that everyone must leave the ship, no exceptions.

Fear triggers authoritarianism

The captain is concerned that some might not follow his instructions. To prevent this, he implements continual announcements over the tannoy about how bad the situation is to assure that all are aware and compliant. He tells his staff to spread the word that staying on a sinking ship will mean a painful death for many. He hints to the crew that accuracy of information spread is less important than the effect it will have on the passengers.

The captain instructs that anyone who suggests staying on the ship will be punished and physically removed if necessary.

Authoritarianism triggers fear

The severity of the instructions given out by the captain further convinces the 85% that they really are in grave danger. They start to demand that the captain takes ever stricter measures.

The 15% increasingly see a disconnect between their understanding of the damage reported by the engineer and the increasingly disproportionate actions of the captain and crew.

The passengers are increasingly divided

The 85% support the captain. They stress that in this extreme emergency, the top priority is that the evacuation rules are followed.

The 15% find the authoritarianism dangerous. Taking to a stormy sea in small boats will inevitably result in an avoidable loss of life. The top priority should be to understand the damage and determine how it can best be fixed.

The captain overrules the 15%, saying there is no time. The 15% become angry and distressed at how authoritarianism is preventing examination of the damage and rational consideration of the options.

How are the 85% feeling?

The 85% are puzzled. Do the 15% not hear the tannoy announcements? Do they not realise that their queries are slowing the evacuation and will cause loss of life? Do they not see the arrogance of thinking that they know better than the experienced captain? Do they not realise that they are a minority, are being selfish and should conform to the views of the majority?

The 85% do their best to ignore the 15% and try to suppress their discussions which they think are ridiculous and bad for morale.

Any dissent such as a suggestion that the ship might not be sinking is dismissed as 'conspiracy thinking'. Overall, the 85% do not feel too bad, as the sceptics will be forced to conform whether they agree with the rules or not.

When some small boats capsize in the heavy seas and a few are drowned, the 85% pay little attention, deliberately focussing on the big picture. The captain has told them that the sinking ship has the potential to drown many more people than might be lost in small boats.

How do the 15% feel?

The 15% become increasingly convinced that the 85% do not care about survival and have become very irrational. Debate has been stifled and replaced by strictures that make no sense.

When the first of the small boats capsize and its occupants drown, the 15% feel desperate, fearful and angry. Their lives are threatened by mad people, and their former friends are blind to the whole situation.

What distinguishes the 85% from the 15%?

Given this scenario, let's consider some key differences between the two groups.

What leads to scepticism and what to authoritarianism?

At some point as fear increases, there is a point when the 15% separate from the 85%.

The 15% would say whether you are a sceptic or an authoritarian hinges on the level of fear that you suffer from. On the other hand, the 85% will reject this saying they are not authoritarians, they are just realists, and which group you fall into depends on whether or not you appreciate the true gravity of the situation.

The weakness of 85%'s argument is that the sense of emergency generated has led to a deliberate stifling of the processes that might allow a reasoned assessment of the situation. Also, fear has reduced the capacity of passengers and crew to engage in a reasoned assessment.

The 85% are in a vicious circle

The worse the situation appears, the more those with authority want to emphasise how bad things are to get people to comply with their unpleasant instructions. This frightens the 85%, who then complain that actions taken so far are not strict enough. The harsher measures then taken frighten them even further and round we go again.

The 15% are in a vicious circle

The 15% feel ever more distant from what appears to them to be an absurd merry-go-round of rules and practices that are arbitrary and contradictory. They notice, for example, that while the passengers freeze at night in open boats, the captain and top staff are spending the nights back on board the ship. The captain does not share his thoughts that the fear and rules have been over-emphasised deliberately to get the right level of compliance while he and the crew need a good night's sleep so they are fit to manage the emergency.

As a result, the sceptics increasingly assume that the captain has no integrity and no ability to distinguish logic from madness. As the passengers are forced to stay in the small boats week after week, the sceptics increasingly assume that their well-being is not the captain's prime concern.

Conclusion

In connection with covid, 'sceptics' have focussed on trying to reason with 'authoritarians', sometimes bombarding them with evidence. This has not been successful as 'authoritarians' fundamentally do not see this as a time for debate, but as an emergency where universal compliance must be encouraged.

'Sceptics' have become dismissive and cynical about the 'authoritarians'' poor reasoning, and deeply suspicious of the motives of leaders when irrational policies are imposed. These attitudes reinforce the divide between the two groups.

'Sceptics' need to bring covid 'authoritarians' to a place where they can engage in constructive reasoning. This transition depends on the following:

Forbearance - 'the quality of being patient and being able to forgive someone or control yourself in a difficult situation' - To maximise the chance that 'authoritarians' come around and see things in a different light, we must make it comfortable for them to change their minds without shame or humiliation.

Countering the fear - Fear messages must be deconstructed and countered, creating space for a 'cooler' environment where reasoning is possible and where people may be encouraged to transition from authoritarian irrationality to reason based on scepticism.

Dislodging the crooked - It is said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. With rising levels of fear and authoritarianism, some leaders will gain a concentration of power and will use it for their own advantage. Such individuals need to be dislodged from authority, by force if necessary.

'Sceptics' need to understand the state of mind of the 'authoritarians'.

As Robert McNamara said, perhaps still inwardly reeling with grief and guilt over the madness that was the Vietnam war: "empathise with your enemy".

Opinions on Government responses to Covid-19 are highly critical - there may be some softening of this but it is accompanies by a slight increase of those who think the government is corrupt.
The conclusions that can be drawn from a straw poll are limited due to the sample size and the inevitable selection bias that results from participants self-selected via twitter.
